It hit me today that our eldest child is about to turn 7 and we have absolutely no idea where the time has gone! So I thought I'd better get organising his party, given that its only two weeks away!

For the last couple of years we have done the old Mcdonald's birthday parties and they have been so awesome & easy, but the playground is now too babyish for the big 7 year olds!

So I set about researching a cool venue for 7 year olds to have some fun, and I thought I'd compile a list of available options to help all of you out whilst I am at it ;)

So here's 14 fun kids party ideas & venues to check out - in no particular order......enjoy :)

Timezone - Geelong

Geelong Timezone has one huge room divided into 6 party 'rooms/sections.

All parties include: 90 minutes of interactive play, 10 x powerticket games, 1 x laserquest game, unlimited video games, gift for the birthday child, two free games upon return visit and free party invites.

You'll need to bring your own decorations, and disposable cups and plates. You can also bring your own food and drink. Or you can get the La Porchetta deal - Large Pizza's $10 each! (Minimum of 4) delivered to your party.

Cost: Minimum cost is $200 for 12 people. ($16.60 per person)

The Great Ocean Road Chocolaterie - Anglesea

The Great Ocean Road Chocolaterie has such a magical feel, and it could just be the perfect place for your child's birthday party! Birthday parties at the Chocolaterie are held in the pod cafe on Saturdays and Sunday mornings.

The party package includes:

Reserved table for children with balloons

Your choice of Individual lunchboxes with ham & cheese baked mini-rolls, cookies, juice and a fresh fruit kebab or pizzas to share with a chocolate milkshake

Ladybug ice cream cake with candles, cut and served or Chocolate mousse cake with candles, cut and served

Two party games held on the lawn (or games held at the table if raining) with a party host

Each child will create their very own giant chocolate lollipop to take home

SupaTramp - Grovedale (My son has decided on this place)

If your child is like mine, and full of energy, then a room full of trampolines and rock climbing walls probably sounds perfect!

SupaTramp is a popular place for parties and has a large raised area full of trampoline surfaces, with foam mats in-between. There are even trampoline mats along the wall to bounce off! There is a cafe for the parents and a playground for any younger guests.

Each party package includes 90 minutes of jump time, plus 30 minutes of food and cake in the party room.

Dolled Up - Newcomb

This option is not suitable at all for my boisterous 7 year old boy, but my 4 year old daughter would be in heaven at one of these parties! So if your child is a sassy queen who loves dressing up and playing with makeup you should definitely consider this venue.

Designed for girls between the ages of 4-14. All packages include plenty of activities, such as craft, hair styling, make-up, manicures, singing and dancing, party games.

Party food is also supplied.

There are different party packages to choose from, such as Glamour Parties, Pamper Parties, Princess Parties, and Disco Diva night parties.

Inflatable World - South & North Geelong

Inflatable World is exactly as it sounds: a huge room filled with inflatable play equipment. You can choose from either catered parties or uncatered package options.

Unlimited water and cordial, and tables and chairs are provided (which you can decorate if you want to) Uncatered parties start from $200 and catered parties from $270 (for 12 children 4 playing adults).

Playhut Party and Playcentre - Geelong

Playhut is the newest playcentre in town! It has been completely rebuilt, and now boasts a massive three level indoor playground area.

Powered ball canons, Indoor trampolines, tunnels, ball pits and enormous slides will keep the big kids entertained. Whilst younger siblings can play in their very own toddler zone area.

Rollerway Skate Centre - Newtown

Rollerway Skate Centre in Newtown brings back so many childhood memories. Their parties run for 3 hours (except the Saturday morning sessions, which are 2 hours), and the standard package includes skate hire, a hot dog, drink, party bag, and a small gift for the birthday child. There is also a deluxe option, and a self-catered option available. Parties are generally recommended for children aged six and over, however younger children are welcome, as are people who've never skated before.

The staff at Rollerway are very experienced in hosting parties and have compiled a great list of information and FAQ for those thinking of having a party there.

Freckleberry Chocolate Factory - South Geelong

Does a chocolate themed party sound like fun?

Freckleberry Chocolate Factory could be the place for you! Parties are generally held on Saturday's, at 11am or 1pm. They run for 60 minutes and are chock full (pardon the pun!) of games such as pass the parcel, lolly bingo and chocolate artwork creations. Every guest takes home and balloon and bag of chocolate treats.

You can also add a lolly smash cake, as pictured below for an extra $34.95 .

The Rock Adventure Centre Rock Climbing - Newtown

Does your child love to climb?, then a birthday party at the Rock may suit you!! The Rock Adventure Centre in Newtown, Geelong provides birthday parties for children over 6.

Each 2-hour party including warm-up games in the 'bouldering area', followed by rock climbing on the climbing wall.

All parties are supervised by experienced instructors, and children are encouraged to only go as high as they feel comfortable. After the rock climbing session, the children head over to the party area for ce-cream cake, drinks and lolly bags.

Outback Miniature Farm

A typical children’s party held at Outback Miniature Farm includes a 2 hour party with a minimum of 10 children(max 30) and parents are free.

The cost is $25 per child which covers visits to each section of farm in a supervised group, where you can feed, touch and pet the different variety of animals. Each child gets a pony ride and party food is supplied. Parents can hire the venue barbeque for $20 if they would prefer to cook their own food.

Saddle On Riding School - Lovely Banks

Saddle On Riding School is located in Lovely Banks, a suburb in the northern area of Geelong. Theses parties are perfect for all animal lovers, all parties begin with an animal farm, which is followed by a horse or pony ride. Party food is provided by the venue and includes party pies, potato cakes and fairy bread. You can bring your own cake. You can also add on a jumping castle or BMX Bike riding !

All For Kids Playcentre (Bubble Soccer) - North Geelong

All for kids Playcentre offer all your standard playcentre party packages, but their Bubble Soccer Party in particular caught my eye.

Recommended for children 7 to 13 years of age. Party table set up along the sports court for you and your guest to watch the kids having a ball, bouncing of each other and rolling around.

Adventure Park - Wallington

Adventure Park is a hugely popular waterpark located on the Bellarine Highway in the suburb of Victoria’s biggest theme park, Adventure Park, 24 exciting rides and attractions, and is home to Melbourne’s biggest & longest Proslide Tornado waterslide!

Parties are available for children aged between 4-17, with a minimum of 10 guests required, and options include a 'Standard' or 'Deluxe' Birthday Party. Please note that unfortunately Adventure Park is closed over Winter, so it is only available for Birthday Parties from late October through to early April. My boy is May 12, so this is not an option for us!

Cost: Standard Birthday Parties are $27.50 per per person.

Aerodrome - South Geelong

Like SupaTramp, this place is awesome for burning off all that extra energy.

Each party includes special aerodrome gift pack for birthday child, 90 mins of airtime, 30 minutes in the private party room, downloadable invites, lollies, chips and cheezels, ​3 options for party platters: party pies, sausage rolls, mini frankfurts, assorted sandwiches, Chicken nuggets & fairy Bread, Lolly bags for each guest and a Juice box or Slushie Drink included.
